Soon we wonder how we ever managed doing things the old way! GarageTek’s organisation and storage system for the garage is one such innovation. The GarageTek system is a masterful combination of elegant styling and advanced engineering which has for many years, been transforming American, Canadian, British, South African, Russian and more recently Australian garages into safe and organised spaces. Marc Shuman and Skip Barrett are the originators behind the GarageTek concept. While working for an international manufacturer of store fixture and visual merchandising equipment in the U.S., Shuman, who was the president, and Barrett, as national sales manager, began exploring alternative uses for the company's innovative TekPanel® product.

In 2000, GarageTek was launched and in many ways, a new home improvement market category began. That year, GarageTek became the first U.S. national firm to offer a custom, installed garage organisation and storage system. In 2001, the first franchise opened for business.Franchising | |

In the mid-1990s, shortly after TekPanel®¨ was perfected, Shuman and Barrett were ready to tackle the next hurdle, determining whether anyone wanted to become a GarageTek dealer. This was quickly answered when installation by one builder led to other dealers coming forward with requests. The “snowball” effect has created the authorised dealer network, which has evolved as the company’s principal distribution channel. While other companies offer organisation products, none offer the same advantages as GarageTek – the pioneer which invented this new home improvement product and now leads the category. |
